The experience
Nishijin silk has been woven in Kyoto since the fifteenth century, and the motion of the loom has barely changed. Following the steps as they are explained, you work a hand loom yourself: passing the shuttle, beating the weft, watching the pattern grow line by line. The small piece you weave goes home with you.
